About 〰️

Beginning in 2020-21 as a trio featuring bass, drums, and amped up keys, The Ultraviolets ran through a few permutations before settling in their current high-vibration state. Prior to the rhythmic dynamo that is Jim Bob and Victoria joining in early 2025, Nick and Eric played bass and drums, respectively. With these previous bandmates, The Ultraviolets played shows in and around Grand Rapids throughout 2022-24 while recording the Dreamhunter and Radiation EPs. The potentialities of 2025 are incalculable. Find out more about each member of The Ultraviolets below.

See you at a show.

  • I started playing guitar at 15 because I loved Guitar Hero 3.

I was previously of Mooch Globe, and I have some solo stuff that goes back to the pandemic. While I have a lot of influences, not all of them show up in my guitar playing, but some of my favorite bands are Fugazi, Sonic Youth, and The Smiths. I think being a good songwriter is more important than being a good guitar player, although chops make things more fun. Ultimately, I crave those big moments at shows in songs where everyone is on the same wavelength feeling some shit. It rules.

  • I began playing music in my adolescent years, starting with trumpet in middle school and ending up in high school jazz band for a year on keys. Since then, my musical relationship has been one of dabbling in cheap keyboards, bass guitar, and recording lo-fi bedroom tunes since around 2017, recently picking up a trumpet after over a decade of neglect.

I’m influenced by disparate sounds and genres, from Fugazi to David Bowie. I’ll happily ramble about music that holds a special place in my heart, such as Can, Sly & the Family Stone, Bob Dylan, all things jazz, from Mingus to Billie, Cocteau Twins, Stereolab, Dead Kennedys, Captain Beefheart, Scott Walker, Brian Eno, My Bloody Valentine, Zappa, Laura Nyro, Prince, Wipers.

  • Is an American-Multi instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter/composer actor and filmmaker.

Owns Egg Rock studios founded in 1994.
